Lil Nas X's father Robert Stafford said his Grammy-winning son was "in great spirits" and "doing great mentally" following his arrest Thursday after he was allegedly found walking the streets of L.A. wearing only underwear and cowboy boots.

"He's in good spirits. He's all right." Stafford told reporters who gathered around him Monday, as captured in video by TMZ. "He's very remorseful for what happened." He added that the rapper, born Montero Hill, is "going to get the help that he needs."

When Stafford was asked about whether illegal drugs were involved, he said "absolutely not."

He also said his son was "doing great mentally."

Lil Nas X was charged with four felonies: three counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer, after he had allegedly "charged at officers" and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a possible overdose, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department told EW.

Asked what his first conversation with his son had been like, his dad said, “It was awesome. Awesome. We shed tears. We shared laughter. But he’s in great spirits. He’s gonna be great. Like I say, God is good.”

At an arraignment Monday, the "Old Town Road" artist pleaded not guilty to all charges, and his bail was set at $75,000. He was released that afternoon, according to TMZ.

The rapper's lawyer, Drew Findling, also spoke to reporters in video captured by the outlet, pointing to his client's professional accomplishments and that he's "never stepped in a courthouse before."

He said he wasn't sure yet if the incident had to do with any kind of substance, medical, or emotional issue.

"There's no way for us to know right now," he said. "Just know that we’re going to do our very best to address those issues."

"Anybody that has kids, you hear about things like this all the time," Findling continued. "Don't forget, he's 26 years old. So it’s not unusual for something like this to happen, particularly when you have the pressure of being recognized internationally like him."

He asked that people "don't judge somebody by the worst moment in their life."
